About the Event

We're harvesting red cedar trees at Pine Coulee Nature Preserve to help with oak savannah restoration and create fence posts/rails to use at Magee Park's bike skills course.

Chainsaw operators will cut and haul the trees. Volunteers are needed to strip bark from the logs while it is still fresh and easily removed. We're estimating about 30+ people hours of work that is required to strip the logs.

A large, flathead screwdriver and a small metal putty knife works great for getting the bark started. Then we'll grab the bark and rip it! If you're able to bring a flathead screwdriver, metal putty knife, and set of saw horses, that would be great. Otherwise, we have extra tools available to use.

Work gloves and safety glasses are also recommended. Bring water/hydration and snacks for you and your party as needed. Come when you're able and stay as long as you'd…
